Amazon supercharges sales for Boston-based family business
Boston, MA
MAX’IS Creations
Max Ash, now 20-years-old, dreamed up the concept for a basketball hoop mug that would work with marshmallows as a second grader at the Carroll School in Lincoln, Massachusetts, a school for kids with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. Max worked with his parents to bring his novel idea to life, file a patent, and start selling it. But it was the decision to start selling on Amazon a few years ago that took MAX’IS Creations to new heights.

“Amazon’s incredible for small businesses. There’s absolutely no other way a family like ours could do the level of sales that we are doing without the support and programs that Amazon offers,” Jen Ash, Max’s mother, explained. Features like Amazon’s search algorithms, advertising, and logistics support have been critical to their success.

“Amazon basically handles the customer interaction, the marketing, the fulfillment and then there’s the advertising,” Jen Ash explained. “Millions of people know about Max’s products that would not have known about them, because of Amazon.”

Boston, MA
Dumpling Daughter
As a child, Dumpling Daughter CEO and founder Nadia Liu Spellman always had fond memories of her parents’ Chinese restaurant. When she grew up, it was no surprise that she decided to open not just one, but four restaurants of her own in her hometown of Boston, Massachusetts.

When the pandemic hit, Nadia began selling bottles of their Spicy Sweet Soy Sauce directly to customers in the Amazon store—and it was a hit. It also helped inspire more creative opportunities, including Nadia’s new cookbook, Dumpling Daughter Heirloom Recipes: From Our Restaurants And Home Kitchens, now available in Amazon’s store.

When it comes to the future of Dumpling Daughter, Nadia says, “The sky’s the limit.”

Garden Tutor deepens roots and makes it easy to play in the garden
Boston, MA
Garden Tutor
Angus Junkin loves to garden so much so that it was common for people to go to the former landscaper for advice. They’d ask, “How do you garden?” or “What will grow?”—and the big one, “How do I keep my garden alive?”

These questions helped him sprout a new business idea, Garden Tutor, to offer tools and products that empower people in the garden. Angus began selling in Amazon’s store in 2019 and soon his business grew around the world.
