During SuperBowl weekend 2013, a pizza-fueled conversation between Craig Barnell and Ralph Carbone sparked Fisher’s Finery with a handshake $300,000 investment. The Connecticut-based luxury brand launched in the Amazon store that November, selling silk pillowcases, cashmere accessories, and women’s sleepwear. Today, Fisher’s Finery runs 3,100+ SKUs with just seven employees, achieving 988% growth on Amazon. The company operates from Plantsville, Connecticut—a small community in the center of the state, part of the town of Southington—leveraging Amazon’s integrated logistics ecosystem (Fulfillment by Amazon, Multi-Channel Fulfillment, Amazon Warehousing & Distribution, and Amazon Global Logistics) to build an eight-figure business while saving over $1 million in inventory costs and $80,000 in storage fees.

Matt Beaudoin learned the art of tying nautical knots from his grandfather, who popularized the rope sailor bracelet in New England’s beach towns in the 1960s and 70s.
Today, Beaudoin’s company, Mystic Knotwork and its 17 employees produce a variety of nautical-themed crafts—all made by hand right in historic downtown Mystic.
Many customers purchase products from one of the company’s ecommerce channels. “Then,” shared Beaudoin, “when they’re touring New England, they stop by. The internet actually generates demand that brings people into our brick-and-mortar store.”
