Los Angeles co-founder created a simple solution to the sleep problem millions face every night

Christine Khan couldn’t turn her mind off at bedtime. Now her powdered sleep aid is used by over 100 professional sports teams.

Christine Khan knows what it’s like to lie awake at night, mind racing through tomorrow’s to-do list.

“With work and family obligations and thinking about all the things I had to do the next day, I just couldn’t turn my mind off in bed,” Khan said. “This was really impacting my personal and work life.”

Khan couldn’t find something that would ease her into sleep without any negative effects. So, she created it herself.

“Helping people sleep better. That’s it, it’s as simple as that,” Khan said of her brand’s mission.

Som Sleep works like a hydration stick pack, but for sleep. Mix a small packet with water and drink it 30 minutes before bed. The product comes in four flavors—Berry, Cherry, Tangerine, and Mango—and is designed to be clean, simple, and effective.

Fast, reliable delivery matters, especially for a sleep product. Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) has been essential to Som Sleep’s growth.

Although Khan created Som Sleep for everyday people, the product has caught on with elite athletes. Over 100 professional sports teams use Som Sleep as part of their recovery routines.

“Although we’re a small business, it’s pretty cool that most of the professional sports teams here in the U.S. use our product,” Khan said. “Som Sleep is for everyone.”

Khan said one of their biggest growth drivers has been Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), a program that lets sellers outsource order fulfillment to Amazon and offer customers free, two-day shipping through Prime. Fast, reliable delivery matters for a product people use as part of their nightly routine.

"[Amazon] makes it easy for people to discover Som Sleep and try it with fast, reliable delivery,” Khan said.

The team engages different customer segments through Brand Tailored Promotions, which allows brand-registered sellers to offer exclusive, targeted discounts to specific customer segments. In addition, product reviews provide real customer feedback and help new shoppers feel confident trying the product.

Community is central to Khan’s approach. She wanted to solve a real problem that impacts people’s daily lives. For example, Som Sleep donates their products to medical professionals, ensuring the people who care for others are well-rested enough to be at the top of their game.

“Sleep affects how we show up for work, family, and our overall health,” Khan said. “What better way to help people than to support healthcare professionals—from nurses to doctors—who are on the front line of helping people.”
