Independent sellers are the backbone of Amazon’s store, representing more than 60% of sales and supporting over 2 million jobs across the country. In 2025, more than 75,000 sellers surpassed $1 million in sales, up 36% from the year before. That growth is fueled in part by our investments in Fulfillment by Amazon, which gives sellers of all sizes the same delivery speed and reach as the largest retailers. Faster delivery speeds are now available in more than 9,000 cities, towns, and rural communities, which means sellers can reach more customers with the fast delivery that drives sales. That speed shows up directly in sellers’ results: when the delivery promise moves to 2 days from more than 4, purchase conversion rates increase by more than 20%. When that promise goes from 2 days to just hours, conversion can go up another 15% or more. Amazon succeeds when our selling partners succeed, and protecting that growth is central to how we make decisions about fees.
Fee changes are never easy. Each year we review our fee structure, and this year’s updates reflect a range of factors. We’re adjusting fulfillment fees to better match our cost of serving different products, and simplifying storage fees based on direct feedback from sellers. The full details are in the letter below.
Our commitment is to earn sellers’ trust every year by delivering value that outpaces the cost of selling in our store. We continue to invest in the speed, tools, and infrastructure that drive seller growth, and we take that responsibility seriously. Because these changes will affect sellers differently depending on their products, we’ve built tools to help each seller understand exactly how the updates impact their business.
Below you can read the full email we are sending to our selling partners outlining the fee updates we are implementing for 2027.

2027 Updates to US Referral and Fulfillment by Amazon fees
We’re adjusting rates to reflect ongoing costs, holding the FBA fuel and logistics surcharge steady, and simplifying storage fees.
Hello,
Last year, across stores in the US, we delivered 8 billion items same-day or next-day, and we’re continuing to invest in faster speeds to help grow your business. Today, we’re sharing our 2027 fee updates and the thinking behind them. We know this news arrives during your busiest season, and that fee changes, up or down, affect your planning and bottom line. We’re sharing them now so that you have more than two months to plan before most changes take effect on January 15, 2027.
On average, FBA fulfillment fees will increase by $0.19 per unit sold, approximately 0.8% of the average item’s selling price. The impact will vary by product, size, and price. Fees for some products will increase, and others will decrease, so that each fee more closely matches our cost of fulfilling that product. To see how these changes affect your business at the account and product level, go to the new Fee Change Comparison dashboard in Profit Analytics. You can also model fee scenarios with the Revenue Calculator.
The FBA fuel and logistics surcharge remains unchanged. Costs, especially fuel and line-haul trucking, have remained elevated since we introduced the surcharge in April 2026, and we’ll keep reviewing the surcharge as conditions change.
You’ve told us that storage fees are hard to predict, and we want to change that. Effective February 1, 2027, we’ll eliminate the storage utilization surcharge, which will make it easier to stock up ahead of high-demand events. We’ll also remove the aged inventory surcharge and combine it with monthly storage fees into a single, age-based rate. These changes will result in flat or lower fees for inventory that turns in under six months, higher fees for aged inventory, and a new age-based rate that will make your storage costs easier to predict.
We’re also updating the low-inventory-level fee to better reflect your actual demand. Today, the fee is assessed using trailing 30- and 90-day sales. Effective February 1, the fee will apply only when your inventory falls below 28 days of supply, based on actual shipments in both the four weeks before and after the assessment date. By also evaluating sales in the four weeks after the inventory assessment, this change confirms whether low inventory reflects ongoing demand. This will target SKUs that need replenishment and reduce instances triggered by unexpected demand spikes or end-of-season and end-of-life products.
For a full summary of fee changes, including additional updates for small and large standard-size items, items priced above $50, “Buy X, Get Y” promotions, Multichannel Fulfillment, and Amazon Warehousing and Distribution, go to 2027 US Referral and Fulfillment by Amazon fees.
