Before launching Maven, Cade Maestas, Mike Lilygren and Brendan Weaver worked at a Wyoming optics company that was later acquired by a larger corporation. The three were offered leadership roles—on the condition they relocate out of state. Rather than leave their homes, they gathered around a backyard fire pit in 2008 and asked a simple question: What if we built something here?
The result was Maven, an award-winning direct-to-consumer optics brand headquartered in the small town of Lander. Today, the company operates from a 27,000-square-foot facility overlooking the Wind River Mountains and employs 23 people locally, with plans to grow.
In 2017, Maven launched an Amazon storefront. After initially fulfilling orders themselves, customer demand for Prime shipping led them to adopt Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA). Today, roughly 12% of Maven’s business comes from Amazon.
