For Brandon and Layalie Cubina, parenthood didn’t just change their lives, it sparked a business. Like many new parents, the birth of their first son launched a search for baby bedding that was soft, safe, and gentle enough for newborn skin. When they couldn’t find anything that met their standards, they created their own. In 2017, they launched NODNAL Co. in the Amazon store with a single product: a gender-neutral gray bassinet sheet.

“It took off almost immediately,” said Layalie. That early momentum encouraged them to expand what would become a full line of thoughtfully designed baby essentials.

Today, NODNAL Co. offers crib sheets, bassinet sheets, blankets, and clothing crafted from OEKO-TEX Certified cotton and ultra-soft viscose from bamboo. The couple selected bamboo intentionally, Layalie explained, because it’s one of the most renewable and environmentally conscious materials available, grown pesticide-free and naturally able to repel odors, wick moisture, and help prevent skin irritation.

“It’s also unbelievably soft,” she added. “Perfect for sensitive or eczema-prone skin.”

The company launched in the Amazon store in 2017 with a single gender-neutral gray bassinet sheet, then expanded their line using insights from customer reviews.

That desire to protect children’s skin and the planet runs through every part of the business. The brand digitally prints its fabrics using schoeller®-ecodye technology to reduce water waste and relies on recyclable packaging to minimize its footprint.

“We believe in doing things the right way, even if it takes longer or costs more,” said Layalie. “Our values guide every part of our business.”

It’s a message that resonates with families. Since their launch, customers have consistently asked for more products, more sizes, and more patterns. The Cubinas use Amazon reviews and customer insights to shape their collection.

“They’ll be like, ‘Hey, can you make something that is bigger?’” said Layalie. “We use Amazon data to understand our customers and what the families who shop with us need most.”

That feedback loop has been essential to their growth, as has the support of Amazon’s seller tools. With Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) handling the picking, packing, and shipping of their products nationwide, the couple has been able to free up time for other things, like designing and scaling their line and spending more time together as a family. It also reassures shoppers that their purchases will arrive quickly and reliably.

“Amazon’s shipping and customer service tools give our customers confidence in their purchase,” said Layalie.

As the company has expanded, the Cubinas have kept community support at the center of their mission. They partner with Safe Sleep programs across the country, support Generation After Generation Ministry to provide baby essentials to families in Kenya, and donate products locally through organizations like Lakewood Church in Houston.

“Helping families is at the heart of what we do,” said Layalie. Amazon has helped NODNAL Co. reach many more of them.

“Amazon is where we started our business,” she said. “It’s given us the chance to reach families across the country who might never have discovered us otherwise.”
